Bernie Sanders: Vermont senator, former US Representative, and, as of Wednesday, two-time meme king. The politician was unexpectedly thrust into the highlight on Inauguration Day when photographers captured him lounging in a folding chair on the Capitol, carrying a well-recognized grey coat, blue face masks, some lovable wool mittens, and fairly the disinterested facial features. As quickly as the images started circulating, the web labored its magic and reworked it into the primary massive meme of 2021, plopping the seated senator in quite a lot of hysterical scenes.
One day after the presidential inauguration festivities, Bernie mentioned the viral second on Late Night With Seth Meyers, and his response was fairly darn pure. “I heard about that!” he stated with a chuckle when Seth introduced up the deluge of memes flooding social media. After admitting he was “not at all” conscious that the picture was being snapped from afar on the time, the politician added, “I was just sitting there trying to keep warm, trying to pay attention to what was going on.” Hey, generally one of the best memes are born of essentially the most understated, split-second cases.
